U&V Fabric
Stock Fabric Colours - Carbon & Pearl

Westminster are suppliers of the U&V range of all-weather fabrics. The fabric made of 320gsm, 100% Solution Dyed Polyester with pigmentation added prior to extrusion, offering a rich look and feel of cotton, but doesn’t fade or degrade.

The furniture can be left outside all year round and can be simply cleaned with plain water. To remove more stubborn stains, apply a mild solution of soapy water or a water and bleach solution, or carefully clean with a pressure washer on a low setting. When new the cushions can be firm due to the fire retardant but after a few uses and water permutation the cushions do soften.

All outdoor cushions and fabric lounge furniture are required by UK law to conform to UK Domestic Fire Regulations BS5852 Part 1 & Part 2. A specialised fire-retardant treatment is applied to both the quick dry foam filling and the U&V fabric during manufacture. This combined with the use of heavy-duty high quality “memory foam” increases the weight up to 3 times heavier than other non-treated products. This keeps the furniture and cushions stable in windy conditions and additionally ensures the fabric is tauter, which reduces wrinkles in the fabric.

Mould & Mildew Stains Our fabrics do not promote mildew or mould growth; however, it may grow on dirt and other foreign substances if not removed from the fabric. U&V fabric is an incredibly durable and weather resistant fabric. Please ensure that cushions/furniture are fully dry before covering to avoid excess mould and mildew/algae which could permanently stain the fabric.

UV & Fading Traditional dyeing processes only leave colours on the surface of fibre, so they easily fade. U&V upholstery fabric is a densely woven outdoor fabric, full of rich colour. Made from 100% Solution Dyed Polyester fibres which are saturated to the core with highly UV-stable pigments. This makes the fabric resistant to fading and degrading effects of sunlight.

Quick Dry Foam Westminster uses an advanced, high-performance foam designed specifically for outdoor cushions & furniture. The porous open-cell structure allows water to drain very rapidly and fresh air to circulate freely. After a heavy downpour and in good weather conditions the furniture can be ready to use within an hour.

Powder Coated Aluminium Most Westminster products comprise of AkzoNobel powder coated aluminium. This powder coating is safe, sustainable, totally lead & solvent free & meets a wide range of global industry coating standards. AkzoNobel aluminium gives excellent performance & is highly durable, making it perfect for use in domestic & industrial outdoor garden furniture.

A soapy warm water solution can be used to clean the powder coated surface, if necessary. If more cleaning is required, then a small amount of white spirit may be used, but the area must be thoroughly cleaned off afterwards with a water and soap solution & the item left to air dry before use.

Textilene Textilene is a manmade mesh fabric woven from polyester with a PVC coating. Incredibly durable its resistant to fading, easy to clean & resistant to mould & mildew. One of its key advantages is its ability to harsh weather conditions & heavy rain or harsh UV rays it maintains its appearance over time.

To clean, simply brush off any debris with a dry cloth & then wash with a soapy warm water solution. Allow this to soak in for a minute, then rinse off with clean water & let it thoroughly air dry. If preferred, you can scrub it gently with a soft bristle brush or sponge & a warm soap water solution, or carefully clean with a pressure washer on a low setting.

Weave Westminster use Wintech PE Weave which is made of non-toxic & recyclable materials. Polyethylene (PE) is a synthetic resin, rather than a natural weave rattan which makes it moisture & tear resistant, strong & pliable as well as pest/ fungus free.

For daily care, simply wipe it clean using a soft, dry cloth. To remove dirt or spills, wipe over the weave with damp cloth or rinse it off with fresh water & leave it to air dry. For any more stubborn surface dirt you can clean it using a damp soft sponge & soapy warm water solution, but ensure you leave it to air dry before use, or carefully clean with a pressure washer on a low setting.

Sintered Stone Tops Our Sintered stone 10mm thick tabletops are highly scratch, UV and temperature resistant making them strong & durable year after year. Hygienic and very easy to clean, they have almost zero water absorption meaning they can be left out in all-weathers all year round, even in frosty conditions. Although dirt cannot penetrate the sintered surface, we do recommend cleaning the surface to prevent the build-up of grease and contaminants using a cloth & warm water and soap solution.

Teak Effect Heat Transfer Aluminum extrusion wood grain transfer printing is a popular technology that gives aluminum surfaces a wood-like appearance. Our process involves transferring the design of a Teak wood grain texture onto aluminum using a heat transfer method. This technique is widely used in home decor, furniture, and interior design, among other areas. For tough stains or dirt use a rougher sponge to scrub at the dirt and then wipe it away with a clean cloth or rinse off if preferred. If you need some extra cleaning power, you can use a solution of 25% bleach to 75% water when you wash.

Teak Westminster uses solid hardwood sourced & harvested ethically. Its impervious to all weathers & rotting, resistant to splitting & is long lasting. The naturally occurring oil within the wood help make it weatherproof and strong & as it ages and weathers naturally it develops a silvery surface hue.

Teak can develop black spots which be caused by Teak Oil, as well as metal particles commonly found in guttering, scaffolrding and railway tracks etc. After a period of time Teak can show cracks, especially in the end grains. These are quite natural and do not detract from the timber's strength or durability.

Surface dirt can be cleaned off gently with a dry cloth. If you prefer to wash it, use a soft brush and plain water, or a solution of soapy water & a small splash of white wine vinegar or bleach. Always go with the wood grain to clean Teak, not against it & rinse it thoroughly & leave to air dry.

There are many Teak cleaning & maintenance products available on the market, please ensure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.

Parasol Fabric Westminster parasol canopies are made 100% solution dyed Olefin. It has 50+ UV protection & covers more than 98% of UVA & VB rays without fading. This fabric is water, oil, alcohol & mould/stain resistant so it’s the perfect choice for outdoor parasols.

As liquid repels off the fabric, due to its tight, non-porous weave, but if you do wish to clean it you can use a clean cloth with plain cold water to remove any dirt or debris.

Parasol Disclaimer - Due to the cantilever parasol mechanisms and sliding parts the aluminium will wear in sensitive areas especially where aluminium parts touch each other. We strongly advocate the use of a base stand with all Westminster parasols. Always close parasols when not in use or unattended and do not use in windy conditions.

Parasol Bases The Halo Base Stand is 50Kgs and comes in Charcoal aluminium finished with Grey colour coded Ceramic top and allows for a 38 or 48mm pole with the added benefit of wheels. The Cloud Cantilever Base Stand is 117.5Kgs and comes in Carbon or a Stone finish. We recommend Matching Stone Base with Cloud Stone parasol and Carbon base with Cloud Carbon Parasol. Both bases require Kiln dried sand to reach the required weight supplied by the customer.

All-Weather Covers Designed to cover deep seating modular sofas, tables, chairs, or loungers, Westminster furniture covers are available in various sizes & made from polyester PVC coated fabric. Please note our all-weather covers are universal and not tailor made for each individual product.

The covers are designed to leave a gap underneath, to allow the circulation of fresh air & to release moisture, ensuring the product underneath remains mould & damp free. To clean either dust off the covers with a dry cloth or simply wipe them over with a damp clean cloth.

Interior Fabric All four of our premium interior fabrics, Bjorn, Mavel, Nea and Voss, have been designed to not only be human and pet friendly but also scratch proof, durable and beautiful! We have made the conscious decision not to offer a fabric protection service, where the fabric is sprayed to help it be water resistant and easier to clean. There is much debate on how useful or safe this process is, and it does have a certain shelf life meaning that it will eventually wear off anyway. We have carefully chosen our fabrics to be PCF free and environmentally friendly, and we feel adding a layer of chemical-based products would undo all the good work that has been put into the product.
